Thursday afternoon, it was reported by Ian Rapoport that DeMarco Murray and Philadelphia would be heading towards a stare down about Murray’s future. Just a year ago, DeMarco Murray was coming off a career year with the Cowboys, rushing for 1,845 yards on 392 carries. Murray became a free agent and Philadelphia signed him to a 5 year $40 million deal with $20M guaranteed. Fast forward a year and Murray is coming off the worst season of his career, rushing for just 702 yards and averaging 3.6 yards per carry. Most people already knew Murray wouldn’t duplicate what he did in 2014 but they expected much better results in Chip Kelly’s offense. With Chip Kelly gone in Philadelphia, the Doug Pederson regime is going to have to figure out is Murray worth the contract. The Eagles have questions at positions such as QB, WR,and OL just to name a few. The new regime might not be willing to pay running back position like Chip Kelly wanted to. This leads us to the question: Could DeMarco Murray land back in Dallas?
If the Eagles were to cut ties with Murray or trade him, Rapoport suggests the Cowboys could be one of the teams that’s interested. One person that’s interested in a Murray return to Dallas is Dez Bryant. Here’s what Dez tweeted Thursday after the news broke about the Eagles and Murray.
If Dez Bryant and other teammates are willing to put emotions aside and accept DeMarco Murray back, I am on board with that. So how about you #CowboysNation? Would you welcome DeMarco Murray back to the Dallas Cowboys if the opportunity presents itself?
