Jerry Jones

Friday with Jerry Jones 11/22

Find Out What Jerry Jones Had To Say

It’s another Friday with Jerry Jones! This is not like any other Friday during the NFL season, and today that means a special edition of Dallas Cowboys Owner/General Manager Jerry Jones talking about his team with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. You never know what will come out of Jerry’s mouth when he gets behind a microphone and we capture some of the fun for you.

Here are the highlights from Friday with Jerry Jones:

On Myles Garrett situation:

“There’s a physicality and the competition in our workplace, is not like others, but even with that, there’s no tolerance for a serious for misplaced slur.”

Jerry Speak: The only thing you’ll hear me slur in my speech!

Reality: No one knows what was said, but it’s inexcusable to react like Garrett did.

Is there any extra juice to play the Patriots:

“I’ve never not been impacted by the gravity of a big game…it’s got a higher edge to it, the shear intensity. Very intense game and we should play accordingly.”

Jerry Speak: This is the biggest game on the NFL schedule this season and everyone will be watching, I hope we don’t get embarrassed.

Reality: It’s a big game for the Cowboys, they need to win games to make a playoff run. That makes it bigger than the allure of the country and league watching and that’s why the Cowboys will play a solid game on Sunday.

Who hypes this Cowboys team up?

“It can just be verbage, it has to come from someone who has paid the price and you need to count on him.”

Jerry Speak: I’ve paid the price for the team, I need to count on them to have my back.

Reality: We’ve seen the hype person for the Cowboys be their best players this season (Dak Prescott, DeMarcus Lawrence, Ezekiel Elliott).

On Leighton Vander Esch’s injury being long-term?

“It’s symptomatic of what was talked about in the draft. We bragged about his length and wingspan, his space impact…I don’t see anything here that we didn’t anticipate. I don’t see it problematic long-term.”

Jerry Speak: I can’t admit it was a mistake to take a guy who might have these injury concerns.

Reality: It’s too early to tell how bad the Vander Esch injury is, but the team doesn’t feel concerned long-term. It’s smart to be safe now, rather than be sorry.

Consideration to draft Tom Brady?

“No. We looked back and learned from that mistake and that’s why I took Dak Prescott in the 4th round.”

Jerry Speak: I got lucky drafting Prescott where I did.

Reality: The Cowboys “learned” their lesson by trying to draft a QB in other rounds and finally got their guy in round four.
